The Gili islands

The Gili Islands are an archipelago of three small islands : Gili Air, Gili Trawangan & Gili Meno just off the northwest coast of Lombok, Indonesia. The gorgeous tiny islands ( Gili Trawangan, Gili Air, and Gili Meno) are widely known among travelers for their exquisite sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, colorful coral reefs, and tropical palm trees that create an endless feeling of bliss and joy and makes it every traveler dream.

Gili Trawangan

Gili Meno is the middle of Lombok’s three northwest coast Gilis. Gili Meno has a population of about 500, mainly concentrated on the center of the island.

What to do in Lombok?

Like Bali, Lombok Island also has two season, wet and dry. While dry season, also the peak season, runs from May through September and then December-January, the wet season is from October through April.

The best part about Lombok Island, Indonesia is even during the peak season, it is less crowded than Bali. 

Hence, it makes a perfect destination if you want to flee the tourist-y crowd of Bali and sped your tropical vacation away from hustle bustle.

How to come to the Gili’s ?

Leaving from Bali to the Gilis, passengers have several operators to choose from. 

The boat trip from Padang Bai to the Gili islands takes around one and a half to two hours, and generally departs daily between 9:00 am and 9:30 amin the morning.

By plane to Lombok Praya Airport

You can always consider this option if you need a faster way to get to the Gilis. However, it is not that faster compared to direct fast boat trips. 

Here’s why: By plane you will arrive in Praya Airport which is about 1 hour 30/45 minutes to go to Bangsal (Lombok harbor to go to the Gili’s) .

Once you are in Bangsal Harbor, you can take either a public or a fast boat for another 10 to 30minutes trip to the gilis.
